Deremco

The DeremCo project aims to establish a Circular Economy solution that will unlock the

cost-effective reuse of post-use composite materials and components in new high-added

value products.

Solution of Deremco

Solution

line
01

Systemic

integrated with all the different aspects (technological, business, social, etc.)

02

Cross - sectorial

connected with different sectors promoting the industrial symbiosis

03

Demand-driven

based and aligned to the effective needs of the market

The developed solutions will be based on the inter-relation between the technical and social eco-systems at local and interregional level to bring benefit to the environment, industry, consumers and the European society. The DeremCo consortium’s members have been selected to combine suitable knowledge, industrial background, as well as capability to commercially exploit the outputs of this project, thus unlocking the demand-driven Circular Economy approach.
The vision of DeremCo

Objectives

DEMAND-DRIVEN MATERIAL PREPARATION, REPROCESSING AND CERTIFIED PROCESS-CHAINS

DEMAND-DRIVEN MATERIAL PREPARATION, REPROCESSING AND CERTIFIED PROCESS-CHAINS

Similarly, for remanufacturing phases, from the preparation of material to the certification of the final second-life products, DeremCo will support the transition toward a “pull” approach for the circular value-chain. The specifications on materials and components to be re-use are transferred directly from the demand side in terms of functionalities and flows, adapting the re-use strategy and processes in order to meet, in certified and traceable way, the requirements of high added-value products in other sectors.

DIGITALIZATION FOR CIRCULAR ECONOMY

DIGITALIZATION FOR CIRCULAR ECONOMY

The digitalization represents a tool enabling Circular Economy in terms of development and strengthening of the ecosystem and of increase of process efficiency. Within DeremCo, the Fiber Recycling Ecosystem (REUSE) platform will integrate all the significant elements of the value-chain through Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), traceability models, process optimization systems, flows monitoring tools, etc.

DEMAND-DRIVEN DEMANUFACTURING PROCESS-CHAINS

DEMAND-DRIVEN DEMANUFACTURING PROCESS-CHAINS

The demanufacturing phase consists in different steps in order to separate all the valuable components and materials to properly addressed them to following end-of-life treatments. In a demand-driven scenario, the level of demanufacturing is compliant with the market demand of reused and remanufactured products in order to avoid unnecessary processes and maximize efficiency.

CIRCULAR PRODUCT ECO-DESIGN

CIRCULAR PRODUCT ECO-DESIGN

Currently, the ability to disassemble and reuse a product is not taken into account during the design phase. Moreover, labels and requirements mostly concern use-phase energy, not manufacturing processes. DeremCo will provide suggestion to improve product design promoting circularity indicators, such as reusability, reparability, and recyclability.

FORMALIZATION OF DATA FOR CIRCULAR BUSINESS MODELS

FORMALIZATION OF DATA FOR CIRCULAR BUSINESS MODELS

One of the main barriers in Circular Economy is the sharing and the readability of data along the whole value-chain. The identification of the significant information and their formalization to be integrated and used in the following processes and steps, is crucial to unlock new circular business models. DeremCo will work in this direction to ensure an effective industrial impact based on collaboration and co-creation.

CIRCULAR ECO-SYSTEM BUILDING

CIRCULAR ECO-SYSTEM BUILDING

DeremCo will have a twofold impact, at local and at European levels. The proximity to the final consumers and to the industrial regional ecosystem will fill in the existing economic, technological and social gap. On the other side, the alignment at European level will facilitate and increase the adoption of innovative re-use business cases and strengthen the diffusion in other regions and countries.

Pilots

DeremCo, as Investments project, will demonstrate the developed solutions with different cross-sectorial industrial use-cases. These have been classified according to the required processes into two different pilot strategies for unlocking the potential of End-of-Life composite materials as manufacturing sources.
