CARBON CLEANUP GMBH (CCU)
Carbon Cleanup GmbH, based in Linz, Austria, is a company that specializes in carbon fiber recycling. The company's goal is to establish efficient and safe pathways for carbon fiber waste by building the most functional carbon fiber recycling program on earth.
The company plans to achieve this by using AI-driven material classifiers and mobile recycling devices. They will start their operations in Austria, working with public aerospace Suppliers and Sports equipment manufacturers as well as automotive industry as their first clients but are also open to other manufacturers to join them.
The company's mission is to learn and share the learnings with the industry, demonstrating the value of their end-to-end recycling solution and how it can steadily improve the economics as volumes scale up. Ultimately, the company aims to create the most effective and sustainable closed-loop system that physics and chemistry will allow for carbon fiber waste materials to re-enter supply chains.
Carbon Cleanup GmbH believes that landfilling of strategic carbon fiber materials is a serious global problem which requires innovative technology to be solved, and they are working towards developing such technology, to loop valuable carbon fiber materials.
ROLE IN THE PROJECT
DEREMCO opens Carbon Cleanup the doors to a network of European project partners and to expand Carbon Cleanup’s application fields. As a recycling company, Carbon Cleanup is participating in the DEREMCO Project as a provider of recycled composites to be used for real demo cases. With the experience and generated data during DEREMCO, the startup will validate and scale up its recycling process as well as the other technologies developed in this project considering sustainability, process and economical factors.
