Fakulteta za tehnologijo polimerov

Faculty for Polymer Technology - FTPO was founded in 2006 (as Polymer Technology College) on the basis of the needs of polymer industry in Slovenia, which is one of the most fast-growing industries in Europe and the world. The Faculty is the only one in Slovenia offering bachelor and master study programs in Polymer Technology. It is a private non-profit higher education institution. Its founders are companies from Slovene plastics industry (Veplas d.d., Silico d.o.o., Roto d.o.o., Grammer Automotive Slovenija d.o.o., Plastika Skaza d.o.o., Kopur d.o.o., BSH Hišni aparati d.o.o. Nazarje), Regional institutions (Municipality of Slovenj Gradec, RRA Koroška d.o.o) and Industry associations/Research organisations (GIZ Grozd Plasttehnika, TECOS - Slovenian Tool and Die Development Centre).

Vision:

By providing a vibrant learning environment, inspiring innovative research and outstanding value for partners from the industry, the Faculty of Polymer Technology (FTPO) will become an internationally recognized technical faculty and Centre of Excellence for Polymer Technology.

Mission statement:

As the only academic institution focusing on polymer technology in Slovenia, FTPO bases its activities on three pillars: Education, Research and Industry cooperation. We provide our students with the necessary knowledge and skills to become innovative and competent engineers that are fit for responsible tasks in their future assignments. We support the society and industry in Slovenia and beyond to cope with the increasingly competitive and rapidly changing technological environment by creating knowledge through innovative application oriented research on polymer materials and technologies, Know-How transfer and opportunities for lifelong learning. To achieve these goals, we live by our values: Responsiveness, Continuous improvement, Practical Attitude and Personal Approach.

Main research filds of FTPO:

  • Materials (biopolymers, (bio)composites, functional/high performance polymers, 3D printing materials)
  • Improved properties of recycled materials
  • Characterization of materials
  • Processing of polymers (bio-composites, high performace polymers)

ROLE IN THE PROJECT

Specialized in composite material reprocessing and reformulation as well as material characterization and testing, FTPO will validate and certified the achieved KPIs within the Slovenian demo-cases. Together with the project partners Politecnico di Milano, Tampereen Korkeakoulusaatio and Fundacion techalia research & innovation, FTPO will develop tailored-made solutions for all project partners' democases. FTPO is also lead partner in WP6 (Replication and Multiplication by the De-and Remanufacturing for Circular Economy partnership and the Screen Policy Lab).
