RIVIERASCA SPA
Rivierasca S.p.A. is a SME (Small Medium Enterprise) founded in 1963, producing fiberglass-reinforced polyester laminates for the construction industry. It produces ondulated rolls, special flat laminates, transparent and opaque sheets for roof, wall and ceiling, in many kinds of civil, industrial, sport, agricultural and zootechnical application.
In a nutshell Rivierasca produces 4,5 million square meters a year of laminates, consuming 4.000 tons of raw materials (mainly glass fibers and unsaturated polyester resins), has 30 employees and a turnover of about 10 million euros.
In 2001 Rivierasca starts looking for suitable solutions to recycle its internal scraps and develops/tests several technologies till 2012 when reaches promising results and gives to this new material the name “Glebanite”.
Glebanite is GRP recycled into GRP again and a new way of thinking and designing products.
ROLE IN THE PROJECT
In the DeremCo project Rivierasca brings its expertise in mechanical and thermochemical recycling and several reprocessing technologies.
Open mold casting (dry and wet) | Hybrid 3D printing and milling |
Wrapping & plastering (hand lay-up) | BMC/SMC |
Closed mold pressing | Centrifugal casting |
Continuous cold extrusion (patented) | Filament winding |
Continuous lamination | Rotomolding |
Hybrid pultrusion | Hybrid RTM |
It collaborates with strategy 1 (mechanical recycling) demo cases and is leader of strategy 2 (thermochemical recycling) demo case 2.5 focusing on “recycled glass fibers mat”.
